Easy Ways to Drop 5 Pounds, According to Experts

Stop eating two to three hours before bed as a simple nightly habit. Amy Shapiro, MS, RD, CDN, founder and director of Real Nutrition, a New York City private clinic that helps clients achieve their ideal nutrition, weight, and wellbeing, emphasizes this.

Stop eating several hours before bed.

In addition to class, taking notes might help you lose weight. "Writing down what you eat keeps you mindful and helps you recognize patterns," Shapiro says. "Research shows people who keep a food journal lose more weight and keep it off." One 1,700-person study found that documenting dietary habits quadrupled weight reduction.

Keep a food journal.

You may not like vegetables, yet they can help you lose weight. High vegetable consumption in a balanced diet can boost weight reduction, study shows.

 Add additional vegetables to meals.

Protein and fiber help you lose five pounds (or whatever your ideal weight is). "Pairing protein and fiber will keep you full longer and balance your blood sugar, preventing cravings," Shapiro says. "For instance, fruit alone will make you hungry in 45 minutes, but with cheese, nuts, or nut butter, you'll be full for hours."

Protein and fiber should be in every meal.

Remember that not all carbohydrates are harmful. Healthy weight-loss carbohydrates include chickpeas, bean pasta, high-fiber crackers, sweet potatoes, oats, black beans, and spaghetti squash. But too much of anything is bad, and you should avoid simple carbohydrates like white bread, spaghetti, and pastries.

Be careful with carbohydrates.

Due to their deceptive calories and sugar, morning lattes and lemonade iced tea might cause accidental weight gain. Shapiro advises against calorie drinking. She advises, "Drink primarily water, tea, and unsweetened liquids and avoid sugary drinks, especially coffee.  Easily consuming additional calories will be prevented."

Save calories on drinks.

A healthy morning routine sets you up for success throughout the day. This includes eating a nutritious breakfast, exercising, and getting enough rest—three essential weight loss factors.

 Follow a healthy morning routine.

If you want to shed five pounds, get enough sleep at night. Young states, "Getting enough sleep is important as lack of sleep disrupts hormones by increasing hunger and appetite leading to overeating." High ghrelin levels increase appetite and cravings, impeding weight reduction.

Get adequate rest.
